Monster Island is The Asylum's 2019 mockbuster. Strangely, it was released around the time of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The movie is about Monster Island, an island where a monster may exist; the monster, if your will, is Monster Island.


Because this is a film on an asylum, it has the same budget as a large kid’s meal. However, it uses it lightly. They focus on a few human characters while filming all of their big roles in one location during lunch. However, let's not forget that this is a kaiju film, and well... that's of of how they go, so maybe The Asylum won't perform too (blog post) poorly?
